Many people will be able to remember when toys consisted of blocks, train sets, Lego, Barbie dolls and games like snakes and ladders.Today however, the word "toy" has been redefined.Today's toys are completely different than they used to be ten or twenty years ago. There are still some of the same toys hanging around, but kids these days are usually looking for more of the newer toys that have been developed in the last couple of years.Toy makers and manufacturers have changed their way of thinking when it comes to what kinds of toys to design.Kids these days have much higher expectations of what they want out of their toys, and with the newer, technological toys on the market today, and newer, better things coming out all the time, parents have a lot more work to do!Technological toys entered the market place a few years ago, and the word "toy" has never been the same since.Technological toys range from computer games, and X-box to educational toys like leap frog and battery operated Lego robot toys. There are a ton of different technological toys out there, and parent have the hard task of trying to figure out which ones are harmful to their child's psyche and which ones will actually be healthy for their child to play with. There aren't too many computer and Nintendo / Xbox games out there that are beneficial to your child. However, because some parents have voiced their concerns over some of these mind numbing games in the last couple of years, the toy developers have now come out with a few educational games that your child will enjoy playing. Some of these games have the education part more cleverly disguised, and your child will not even know that he or she is learning new skills while playing them!Educational toys for younger children have become more technological as well.Gone are the days of educational toys like the abacus and alphabetical blocks; nowadays, parents of younger kids - even toddlers, are able to buy computer games and video games that their children can play with and enjoy while learning new concepts and skills. There are even exercising plug and play games for toddlers.Parents can plug a toy trike into their television and the toddler can pedal and race on the TV all the while learning about things like shapes, colors, numbers and the alphabet. There are certainly a lot more options out there these days for parents than there were five or ten years ago.Another educational technological toy that has set the standard for other companies is Leapfrog. This toy maker has been around for years, and they are constantly coming up with new and better ideas for educational toys. They seem to know what kids like, and how they best learn. One of the best things about this toy company is that they make educational toys for a dew different age groups.Parents will like this, because it makes it a lot cheaper when families have more than one child.

LG-9212 (Toy) I bought this item for my 3 year old's birthday because he already had Legos and loved playing with them plus he is obsessed with trains so I thought this would be a good buy. I was hesitant because it seemed a bit expensive for just Legos but the set is huge! It comes with enough pieces to build everything shown which may not seem like alot but once its built, it is really big and fun.The ONLY thing that I don't like about the set is that the track pieces don't lock in to one another, they have like a jigsaw effect so you cant pull it apart but you can't pick it up and it stay together. However, you can lock a Lego into the underside of the track at each connection but that requires a lot of lego pieces. Overall, we love this set and I've even thought about ordering a second set so that we could build an even bigger train track! You can buy track pieces separately but you get a lot of pieces in this set plus additional pieces like trains, a bridge, people, and... He loves to build the different configurations and now that he can build them all he makes up his own. He can spend an hour just sitting and puttng the track together and pusing the train around on it. Worth every penny. |

I wanted to buy a play table/art table in one and this is it. It couldn't be easier to put together (say 15 seconds) and it's bright and cheery and very very sturdy. It has 4 storage bins (2 orange 2 red) and the legs of the table are purple. The top board (which is removable and SO easy to clean) is green. Underneath the board is some more storage. The base of the table is grey. My son sits on top of the table with the board on it and it is very stable - it's a thick board. One side of the table has a lip, the other doesn't (for doing artwork very nice). It does NOT come with chairs. Here's a tip: Call Little Tikes directly to get the chairs IF you do not need 4 (they sell them in sets of 4)they don't advertise this but they will sell you one, two whatever you need. Plus if you buy the four pack it comes with one red, 2 yellow and a blue (what???? they don't match the table and why not 2 of one color 2 of another). Anyway, I called them and bought 2 red and my son... It has held up well. I wanted something compact for our sunroom with lots of storage and it delivers. I have even brought the top part outside, filled the 2 storage compartments with water and let the kids use it for waterplay. It's lightweight, easy to move around. Kids can take a bin out and play separately. 2 friends of mine bought the same table and have had their money's worth. We placed a train-mat on the surface for more fun! Pieces are easy to access and the additional storage under the surface is a plus. 11 of 11 people found the following review helpful By April Murray (Wilkesboro, NC) - See all my reviews This review is from: Little Tikes EasyAdjust Play Table (Toy) We purchased this table for our 2 year old son to use for his Matchbox and Hot Wheels Car sets. The assemby is very easy and the table is very strong. My son ends up on top of it quite often and there have been no problems with it toppling over. We have not tried to put his trains on it yet, but it would definitely work for that too. The little storage containers are nice and when you have the table in the highest position, there is room underneath the table for additional storage boxes. |
